Due Dates for Florida Clients
As the October 16, 2017 extended due date approaches, there is special relief available for any clients from Florida, due to the hurricane.
For clients who reside or have a business in Florida, many due dates occurring on or after September 4, 2017 and before January 31, 2018 are extended until January 31, 2018. This includes clients who had previously requested an extension of time to file their 2016 individual income tax returns, which otherwise would have been due on October 16, 2017.
The relief also includes the due date for quarterly estimated income tax payments that were originally due on September 15, 2017 and/or January 16, 2018.
As of September 15, 2017, the IRS has indicated that this relief applies to all 67 counties of Florida. Clients who do not reside or have a business located in an affected county are still entitled to the relief if the records needed to meet the due date are located in Florida. The relief also applies to certain relief workers and individuals who were visiting Florida and were killed or injured as part of the hurricane.
